I recently received the book The Marriage You’ve Always Wanted by Gary Chapman. I’ve read some of his books on the five love languages before so I knew this would be a good read. I was happy to be given the opportunity to read this book because I am always looking for ways to deepen my relationship with my husband. We have a wonderful marriage of nearly ten and I couldn’t be happier. However, I wish this book had been in my hands at the beginning of our relationship instead of ten years later!!! Oh the drama my husband could have been spared!
This book isn’t just for the newly married either. I found several tips for my own marriage as well as encouragement. The chapters were not too long and the author shared moments from his own marriage (sometimes other marriages) to make his point. He gives practical (sometimes emotionally hard and painful) advise to help overcome hard spots in a relationship. At the end of each chapter is a “Your Turn” page full of questions and action steps to take relating to the chapter. Topics include: why marriage, why won’t my spouse change, what is love (hint: not what Hollywood sells!), communication, sex, in-laws, and finances to name a few.
I highly recommend this book to newlyweds and those not so newly married. The good folks at Propeller Consulting, LLC have also provided another copy of the book for me to give away. Please leave a comment if you would like a chance to win this excellent book! The giveaway will be held on Wednesday February 19th. Good Luck!

I would really like to win this. I enjoy reading Gary’s books and with 2 kids it’s hard to find time to focus on our marriage. I hope to get some good tips/lessons from this book.
