I read books aloud to my children. We usually discuss literary elements and suchlike. I’ll even choose spelling and vocabulary words from our readings. Today I read a chapter from Ginger Pye which left my children in tears. The pet dog in the story was stolen in the chapter we read. The kids were so sad remembering their own little puppy who had also been stolen. I pushed the lesson aside for the day and we went to the kitchen for a snack.
Not the happiest moment of the day…but they were all sweeter with each other for a little while afterwards.
Seriously, l need to screen these stories more attentively. Why are there so many sad dog stories?
Day fourteen of thirty.
