Middle Boy received his braces and expander this week. His best buddy in the neighborhood got his braces the same day. What were the odds of such a coincidence? The expander is awful. Every night we have to turn it in order to widen his upper teeth. In other words we have to break the soft cartilage in the roof of his mouth so there is room for his adult teeth. Tonight Middle Boy informed me that he heard the soft “pop” that means the cartilage broke loose. At least the turning of the expander should be less painful for him now. I will be glad when that particular part of his orthodontic work is complete.

Sparkles completed her first week of math lessons with her Daddy as teacher. Neither of them have begged for me to take over so I’m gonna say their arrangement is working out just fine.

I took Sparkles out for breakfast on Saturday morning. We decided to try Bojangle’s since neither of us had been there before. She mostly chatted about Warrior Cats and I tried very hard to listen and keep up with the characters. We discussed some ideas for the next project week coming up in March. We picked up food and treats for the cat and bunnies. She picked out some fancy gel pens for herself and announced she was ready to go home. Sparkles is not much of a shopper.

Earlier this week ( I do not remember the exact day) Brave Writer sent me a sweetly worded rejection note. Even though I was a bit disappointed I wasn’t upset. I also felt slightly relieved and like a weight had lifted from my soul. Those feelings did surprise me. I feel somewhat disconnected from many of the groups and circles I have belonged to recently. I left several Facebook groups this week mostly over political posts. Some far to the left and others far to the right. I just want to learn how to be a better home educator. I do not want to

wade through hateful dialog from either side to search for useful knowledge. I am seriously considering leaving Facebook completely…

My husband and I managed to enjoy a lunch out together this weekend. I miss getting to spend time with him now that I am working evenings. So it was nice for just the two of us to hang out together for a bit. Work is going fine. According to my co-workers, Friday was one of the worst days ever. After spending years with toddlers (and you do know how emotionally stable they can be!!) I didn’t think the day was all that bad. I do not know but maybe those mindfulness techniques I’ve been practicing really do work.
